A 77 year old diabetic man has been hospitalized for treatment of a foot ulcer that has become severely infected. The patient is right handed and the infection involves the hallux and 2nd toe of his right foot. Diabetic infections can involve mixed bacterial flora. As such, this patient will be treated by IV administration of a broad spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic (levofloxacin). Your goal is to follow this antibiotic through the patient's cardiovascular system from the point of IV injection to the site of infection.
